Will Montana ownership make it hard to sell my vehicle outside Montana?

Short answer: no. Montana titles are accepted in all 50 U.S. states. Selling or transferring your vehicle outside Montana works the same way.

No. A Montana title is accepted throughout the United States.

If you sell or transfer your vehicle in another state, the buyer can register it in their state using your Montana title in the standard way. Each U.S. state has its own process for accepting an out-of-state title, but Montana titles do not face any special restriction - they're treated the same as titles from any other state.

The Montana title is portable across all 50 U.S. states: it's recognized as a valid ownership document anywhere in the country, and it's the document the buyer will use to register the vehicle in their state.
