The largest cost of buying a vehicle is its "Sticker Price." This is the advertised price of the vehicle, before taxes, fees, add-ons, and trade-in value.
When these additional costs are added to the Sticker Price, the result is known as the "Out-the-Door Price."
Example:
Sticker Price | $25,000 |
Dealer installed equipment | |
Trailer Hitch | $750 |
Dealer documentation fees* | $800 |
Less: Trade-In Credit | ($12,500) |
Taxable Value | $13,650 |
Sales tax (6%*) | $843 |
Registration Fees* | $268 |
Out-the-Door Price | $15,161 |
