If you wish to keep your vehicle for multiple years, two things need to happen:

1. File Your LLC’s Annual Report

Montana law requires all Montana companies (including Limited Liability Companies, LLC’s) to file an Annual Report by April 15th of each year, beginning the year after the company was formed, until the company is terminated.

Whether your LLC was formed in January of 2024 or December of 2024, its annual report is due on April 15th, 2025.

When filing an LLC’s Annual Report, the LLC must select its Registered Agent for the coming year.

visitor.us charges $95 per year to file your LLC’s annual report and act as its Registered Agent for the coming year.

2. Renew Your Vehicle’s Registration

Unless your vehicle is a motorcycle or a trailer (registration for these vehicle types is permanent), your registration is valid until the end of the month of its registration, in the year following its registration.

For example, if your vehicle was registered on January 15th, 2024, its registration is valid until January 31, 2025.

After renewing your vehicle’s registration, visitor.us receives your vehicle’s new registration document, valid for another 12 months, as well as a license plate decal, in the mail.  The license plate decal indicates the year of the registration’s expiration (e.g., 25 for 2025), and must be affixed to the rear of the license plate, over the previous year’s decal.

visitor.us charges $395* per year to renew your vehicle’s registration.

To summarize, if you wish to keep your vehicle for multiple calendar years, a fee of $95 will apply.  And if you wish to keep your (non-trailer, non-motorcycle) vehicle for longer than 12 months, a fee of $490 will apply.

*Non-motorhome vehicles with a Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Value greater than $150,000 and all motorhomes with a Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Value less than $300,000 are subject to additional fees.
