What is a title brand?

A branded vehicle title is a designation that permanently goes on a vehicle's title record. It indicates that the vehicle has been in a severe accident, been repaired, and then put back on the road. Brands like "salvage," "junk," "total loss," and "flood" can all be reflected in a vehicle's title to inform potential new owners about the vehicle's history.

When a branded vehicle is sold, the brand remains on the vehicle's title. This information is transferred to the new owner, providing transparency about the vehicle's history. It's important that potential buyers are aware of any brands on a vehicle's title, as it may affect the vehicle's safety, performance, and value.

A title that does not have any brands is usually referred to as a “clean title.”
